La Grande, Oregon Florence E. Lambert Florence E. Lambert, of Corinth, Miss., died Sept. 15 after a battle with cancer. Mrs. Lambert, know to most as “Momo,” was born in Counce, Tenn., in 1921 and was a resident of La Grande from 1956 to 2002. She spent most of her time loving her 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She had a gift of relating to all children and was well known for her southern cooking. Mrs. E. E. Slater died at her home at No. 807 Penn avenue at 7 o’clock this morning. The first indications of a serious nature were noticeable yesterday evening and a weakened condition of the heart is the supposed cause of death. About a year ago Mrs. Slater sustained a severe injury in a fall, and although having measurably recovered from this trouble it is believed that the injury had some effect in shortening the period of vitality.
