Halfway, Baker County, Oregon James Jonathon “Jim” Hendrix Jr., 61, of Halfway, died Aug. 21, 2005, at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise. His funeral was Friday morning at Pine Haven Cemetery in Halfway. Jim was born on May 6, 1944, at Halfway to James Jonathon and Evalenea Buchanan Hendrix. Jim was raised and educated in Halfway, graduating from Pine-Eagle High School in 1963. Following high school he married Diane Drake, and they had two children: James Jonathon III and Lori Ann. Enterprise, Oregon Doris Buckley died at a care home in Phoenix, Ariz. on Jan. 25, 2007. She was 75. Mrs. Buckley was born in La Grande on Sept. 18, 1931, to Albert and Anna Gake. She lived in La Grande for a few years until the family moved to Enterprise and then to Joseph, where she attended school. Samuel B. Warnock, pioneer of Day Ridge, died Friday, November 11, 1927, at La Grande, where he had gone a few days before for treatment for Bright’s disease. Jane Cronin died May 13, 2007. She was 88. Mrs. Cronin was born in Melrose, Idaho, to Gertrude and Samuel Sardam, on a farm a few miles north of Lewiston. She graduated from Lewiston Normal School and then attended Eastern Oregon Normal School. Mrs. Cronin began her teaching career in Lewis, a town in Wallowa County just outside of Enterprise. In true pioneer fashion, she taught in a one-room schoolhouse and rode to school each day on horseback. Edward Jasper Dies Wednesday; Burial Saturday Edward D. Jasper aged 53, died at the Grande Ronde hospital Wednesday afternoon after an illness of two weeks of pneumonia. Wallowa County native Wayne Wilson, age 74, of La Grande, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1988 at Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande. Wilson was born Dec. 23, 1913 in a buckboard wagon between Imnaha and Joseph, the son of John A. and Myrtle (Neil) Wilson.
