Kinkade, Mabel A. Olson – Obituary

Mabel Kinkade, 86, a long-time resident of Kittitas County, died Tuesday November 10, 1981 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Born May 1, 1895, in Bottineau, ND, she came to the Kittitas Valley at the age of five with her parents. Her father, Ben Olson, managed the old Tjossem Flouring Mill, where the Millpond Mobile Manor now stands. She married Dallas Kinkade in 1917. He preceded her in death in 1951, as did two brothers and two sisters. She had lived off the Kittitas Highway all her married life and moved to Idaho six years ago. Clarence Charles “Irish” Sisk, 69, was killed in an automobile accident near Mesa, Arizona on Wednesday February 6, 1974. He was born Nov. 8, 1904 in Yakima County and had spent most of his adult life in the Ellensburg area. He was married to Gladys Morrison, Sept. 16, 1929 in Wenatchee. He was employed by F. A. Kern as a ranch foreman and truck driver from 1933 to 1943. Later, he operated a ranch on the Kittitas Highway and more recently ranched north of Kittitas on No. 81 Road. Stricken by a heart attack on the local bus, Arthur Melvin Poland, 43, Collins school teacher, died Friday [June 8, 1945] in a shipyard hospital where he had been taken for emergency attention. Fetters, Eliza Ann Enochs – Obituary

Mrs. Eliza Ann Fetters, 78, died this morning [January 1, 1918] at 8:30 o’clock at her home. Mrs. Fetters was born in Illinois and came to Kittitas County in 1883, having lived here ever since. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Estella M. Elliott of Seattle and Mrs. Orland Thorp, of Twin Falls, Idaho; five sons, Carl B., Horatio S., Freeman, Joe and Ernest Fetters. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at Honeycutt’s for Swan Sorensen, 73, well-known farmer here for the past 50 years, who passed away Tuesday [January 9, 1937] at his home on Route 2. Rev. Nell M. Stuth, 82, of Olympia died Saturday, Jan. 5, 1985, in an Olympia convalescent center. She was born July 1, 1902 in Ellensburg and lived in Seattle and Yakima before moving to Olympia in the 1930s. She was married in 1940 to Albert E. “Stubb” Stuth in Olympia. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Stuth worked for Miller’s Department Store and was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include two sisters, Anna Nichols, Port Orchard and Lottie Dale, Portland, Ore. James H. Curtis, one of the early pioneers of the valley, who came here in 1873, died suddenly last Saturday at Brewster, Wash., according to work received here. He was born July 1, 1849, in McCoon County, Mich. In 1875 he was married in The Dalles, Ore., to Miss Samantha Wheeler. Four of their six children are living Mrs. Tillie Hayes and Mrs. Etta Vaughn of Ellensburg, and Mrs. May Goldberg and Wesley Curtis of Brewster are surviving children. Harvey Huss died at his home in the Fairview District Tuesday [January 27, 1920] at the advanced age of 80 years.
