George Bracken, 49, former city car salesman and instructor at Oklahoma City University, died Saturday [December 24, 1951] in El Reno sanitarium after suffering a series of strokes. Bracken had lived in El Reno with his sister, Mrs. Paul Strate the past three years. Born in Kingfisher, he was the son of the late Arthur E. Bracken, state pioneer and first licensed undertaker in the state. He was graduated from Kansas university in 1923 and for 14 years he was a salesman in Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. A. E. Bracken passed away suddenly Monday morning [July 15, 1935] at 2:25 o’clock at her home on South Main Street. While Mrs. Bracken had been in ill health for about three years, death came as a shock to her family and many friends. Bracken, Sarah Jane McFadden – Obituary

Mrs. R. W. Bracken, who has been in poor health for the past few months, died Saturday [August 23] evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lon [Nora] Covert. The funeral was held Monday morning at 10 o’clock from the Christian Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Higgins, assisted by Rev. Pool. Lee, Maria Essex – Obituary

Mrs. J. M. Lee of this city expired at the family residence on the 4th of consumption, after an illness of several months. The deceased leaves to mourn her death a husband and five children two daughters, and three sons, namely, Mrs. G. W. Majors, Geary; Mrs. A. E. Bracken of this city and Oscar, Harley and Bernice Lee. The funeral services were held at the First M. E. church, Rev. S. M. Nickols preaching the funeral sermon. The sons of the deceased acted as pallbearers. Mrs. M. Majors [Magers] sister of Mrs. A. E. Bracken died Tuesday night [December 18, 1923] at her home on South Seventh Street, following a stroke of paralysis a few days ago. The funeral was held from the A. E. Bracken home this morning at 10 o’clock. The body was taken to Oklahoma City for burial. Bracken, Arthur Ellsworth – Obituary

Services for Arthur E. Bracken, 78, pioneer Kingfisher funeral director who died Friday night [January 23, 1948] were Sunday at 2 pm in the Methodist Congregational church of Kingfisher. Burial was in the Kingfisher Cemetery. A native of Oakhill, Kansas, Bracken came to Kingfisher in 1893. He entered the furniture business three years later and operated the business for 26 years. He also owned a drugstore for seven years. He was secretary of the Funeral Directors association when it was formed in 1901 and aided in writing the first embalming bill.
