Funeral services for Richard R. Garrett of Medford who passed away Monday will be held today at 3 o’clock at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford. Mr. Richard F Genaw will officiate. Conger-Morris Funeral Directors of Medford are in charge of arrangements. Mr. Garrett was born April 8, 1898 in Flora, Oregon the son of the late Brock and Edith Garrett. Lostine resident, Rena Bork, died Oct 4, 1987 at her home. She was 95. Rena was born at Anatone, Wash., on Sept. 24, 1892, the daughter of David Jacob and Mary Melvina Cross Miller. She lived most of her girlhood on the Grande Ronde River, just a short distance from the Oasis. Her parents farmed a ranch on Buford Ridge. Ruth Ackerman, 41 and five children died Tuesday, November 29, when a fire leveled their log home at Priest River, Idaho. The father, William Ackerman, 48, thought his family was behind him when he rushed to the door but they weren’t. The minute he opened the door the house became an inferno. A sixth child, Randy, 15 was sleeping in a nearby camper vehicle and was not injured. The blaze may have been touched off when a double-barrel wood-burning heating stove overheated, according to Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Gordon Sunquist. Mrs. Neva May Botts 66, was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Hospital after suffering a heart attack outside the Lewiston Eagles Hall at 1304 Main St. She had just emerged from the lodge hall with Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bull when she slumped to the sidewalk. She was rushed to the hospital, where a doctor and Wilfred J Duclos, Nez Prece County coroner pronounced her dead at 1:37 A.M.
