Mrs. J. M. Conley Dies, Early Settler Here Mrs. J. M. Conley, resident of the Flora district for many years, passed away at a nursing home at Milton, Monday, February 26. She had been in poor health for some years and had been cared for in a private institution. John B. Garrett, and early settler in the Flora district, passed away in Thursday, June 20 1935 at his home. Funeral services were held Sunday Morning in the Methodist church at Flora and burial was in the Flora cemetery. John Brockman Garrett was born March 23, 1857 in Buncom County, North Carolina. Botts a pioneer resident of the county and of the Flora District, died Thursday Nov 24 1938 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Eva Fleet, where she had made her home for 15 years. Flora, Oregon Jack Randall Duggan, 81, of Flora died March 28, 2008. After he returned from serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, he married Nadine. From that marriage there are three children: Sandra Tucker (Irvin), Kathleen Bush (Jim) and Chris Duggan (Koni Murrill). In 1990, he married Karen, who survives him, as well as his three children; two step-children, Tom Miller and Kelly Kinney; sister Ruth Gioux; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Charles O. Forthman died May 12, 2007, at the Jonathan M. Wainwright Veterans Administration Medical Center in Walla Walla, Wash. He was 85. Mr. Forthman was born in a log house April 21, 1922, in Flora to William T. and Margery M. Ager Forthman. In 1940 he went to National Youth Association School in Pendleton for mechanics in heavy equipment and truck driving. In 1943 he attended five weeks of school for heavy equipment and truck driving. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Jesse Pelum Garrett passed away at the Walowa County hospital Sunday morning. He was taken to the hospital Saturday after his hip had been broken in a fall on Main Street. He was knocked to the sidewalk when some boys, who were wrestling, bumped into him.
