Al Murphy, 76, of Cove, died Sunday, Feb. 24 (1979), at Grande Ronde Hospital. Mr. Murphy was born Aug. 18, 1903 at Cove, the son of Walter and Florence (Comstock) Murphy. He married Flossie Rollins in Cove, Sept. 2, 1923. He retired as a mechanic from Inland Machinery when the company moved to Yakima, Wash. Mr. Murphy was a member of the National Riflemen’s Association. Survivors include his wife, of Cove; son, Keith Murphy, of La Grande; sister, Mrs. Ward (Thelma) Miller, of Union; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and other relatives. Union, Union County, Oregon Jay Breshears’ Funeral Is Held Monday at Elgin Jay Breshears, brother of Sheriff Jesse Breshears and a well known Grande Ronde valley resident whose home was between Alicel and Lower Cove, died Saturday afternoon at the Grande Ronde hospital after a short illness. Nellie Frances Gray, 91, formerly of Union County, died Tuesday, May 25, 1993, of natural causes in Spanaway, Wash. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton. Interment will follow in Belle Passi Mausoleum in Woodburn. Mrs. Gray was born Sept. 25, 1901, in Lenox County, Iowa, to George Washington and Alice Mae Wiley Lemon.
