Hester M. French-Laird, 87, of Oregon City, a former Baker City resident, died March 5, 2006. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke’s Catholic Church at Woodburn. Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Portland. Visitations will be until 5 o’clock tonight at Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn. The IOOF Lodge of Huntington established a cemetery one-half mile east of town on the north side of U. S. Highway No. 30. This cemetery followed the earlier Old Huntington Cemetery which was already established closer to town. Land for the cemetery was donated by the lodge.
