Death Calls Mrs. Willis, 88, in Baker
Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Willis, 88, 2315 Court street, long time resident of Baker, died Thursday evening, March 24 in St. Elizabeth hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Willis was born Feb. 10, 1867 in Gloustershire, England, the daughter of Daniel and Jane Roach. They came to Ogden, Utah from England. In 1878, she was married to Thomas Grundy in May, 1882 in Ogden, and he preceded her in death in 1910.
She came to Baker in May 1882 and married Samuel Willis who died in 1929, and resided here since.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ella Fielitz, The Dalles; sons, Merl and Reuben Grundy, both of Reno, Nevada and Raymond, Lovelock, Nevada and 10 grandchildren.
A son, Frank died several years ago.
Funeral was conducted Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Beatty chapel. The Rev. William H. Thompson officiated.
The remains were shipped Sunday morning to Ogden where internment took place in the Ogden City cemetery. Mrs. Fielitz who had been with her mother for 10 days prior to the latter’s death and her husband Dr. A.C. Fielitz accompanied the body to the Utah city.. Their son, Dr. Ned Fielitz and wife of Portland attended funeral services here.
