In this city February 13, 1889 at two o’clock p.m., Mr. W.T. Fickin, aged 70 years and 10 months.
Mr. Ficklin was born in Garrad County Kentucky, April 15th, 1818. He moved from there in 1852 to Mission, and in 1864 turned his eye to the land of the setting sun, and choose Union County, Oregon, as the place where he would spend the remainder of his days.
Mr. Ficklin leaves to mourn his loss a wife and seven children, namely; N.T., Joseph, George, S.D., Thomas, Jarret and Mrs. M.W. Kennison.
He grew gradually worse from the time he was taken ill, about four weeks ago, not withstanding, the fact that all the remedies known to medical science were administrated. He was cared for during his last illness by a loving and devoted wife and his children, and who were always ready and ever willing to be of service to their father during his last days of suffering. Mr. Ficklin at the time of his death was a faithful member of the M.E. church south.
