At the residence of her daughter Mrs. Kennison, at Wingville, Oregon, August 24, 1890 after an illness of fifteen days, Mrs. Fetna Ann Ficklin, aged 70 years. Deceased was born February 22, 1820 in Boyle Co., Kentucky, moved to Missouri in 1853 (?) and from there to Union Oregon in 1864. With her husband and family she made Union her home until the death of her husband, which occured February 13, 1889, since which time she has been stopping with her children. The wills in this book come from Book A of the Wills found at the Logan County Court house in Russellville, Kentucky. The information was extracted in 1957 by Mrs. Vick on behalf of the DAR located in Russellville. The text in this book was done with an old manual typewriter and has the usual faint and filled-in type often found with such papers. On top of the difficulty in interpreting the print from the typewriter, the scanning process was also deficient, and led to the creation of a faint digital copy exacerbating the difficult to read text.

Biography of Hon. Orlando B. Ficklin

Hon. Orlando B. Ficklin, attorney at law, Charleston; he was born in Kentucky Dec. 16, 1808, being the son of William and Elizabeth Kenner (Williams) Ficklin, both of Virginia. His early education was obtained in country schools, in Kentucky and Missouri, except about one year, which he spent at Cumberland College, located at Princeton, Caldwell Co., Ky., under the auspices of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In this city February 13, 1889 at two o’clock p.m., Mr. W.T. Fickin, aged 70 years and 10 months. Mr. Ficklin was born in Garrad County Kentucky, April 15th, 1818. He moved from there in 1852 to Mission, and in 1864 turned his eye to the land of the setting sun, and choose Union County, Oregon, as the place where he would spend the remainder of his days.
