Leonard Marvin Hottendorf, 82, of Hermiston, Oregon, died on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 at the Good Samaritan Center in Hermiston.
Memorial service were held on Monday, Feb. 17, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Burns Mortuary Chapel Hermiston.
He was born on July 30, 1920 in Vail, Iowa to parents, Oscar and Hulda Hesse Hottendorf.
He grew up and graduated from high school in Iowa. Leonard then joined the United States Navy serving overseas during WWII. He married June Benning and they moved to California and then Montana. To this marriage 2 daughters; LaVera and Lorraine were born and later Leonard and June divorced.
Leonard worked as a ranch hand on various ranches in Montana, Nevada, and then Oregon. He married R. Carleen Truscott on June 7, 1980 in Baker City. They moved to Hermiston in 1981 and have lived there since.
He worked at Lamb Weston in Hermiston until 1989 when he retired due to failing health. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, listening to music, going on drives, watching car racing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Leonard was a member of the VFW Post No. 4750, and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife: Carleen Hottendorf, Hermiston, son: Rusty Truscott; Davenport WA,; daughters: LaVera Sanchez; Stanfield, Ore., Lorraine Rodriguez, Arizona, Susan Koeller; Pendleton; Ore,; sisters: Clara Winey and Mabel Teck, Dennison, Iowa; Lucille Lingle, California, 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
