A celebration of life will be held at 10a.m. on April 22 at The Valley Fellowship, 507 Palmer in La Grande. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Mary Anna Barber was killed in a two-car accident north of Montreal, Canada on snow-covered roads Saturday, May 26. She was born at Enterprise on October 1, 1940, daughter of Wayne and Irene McFetridge. Mary Anna graduated from Enterprise High School and was married to David Barber, also an Enterprise resident, in 1958. Julius A. Balter was suddenly stricken by heart disease while cranking his car at a point about one half mile this side of Elgin on Sunday, September 12th. Mr. Balter was alone and was on his way from the Yakima valley to Joseph. He was found shortly after attack and taken to Elgin and given medical attention but lived only about forty minutes. Mrs. Alice Balter, aged pioneer of Wallowa County, passed quietly away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Guy Mitchell, just before midnight, Tuesday September 6,1932. Mrs. Balter had been in poor health for some time and following an illness of flu in Montana last winter has been much worse. August 29 she was stricken with paralysis and never recovered complete consciousness before the end. Imnaha, Wallowa County, Oregon A private family service was held for Ruby Anna Baldridge, 68, a longtime Central Oregon resident in earlier years that returned to Prineville nine months ago. She died Tuesday, June 19, 1984 at the Crook County Nursing Home. Mrs. Baldridge’s activities were centered largely in her home, but she had worked for a time as a hospital cook. Paradise, Wallowa County, Oregon Vernon Baker was fatally shot at about twelve o’clock Monday night by Harry Swisher near Paradise. According to Swisher, who has recently purchased the Bob Turner place, he suspected that someone from the Joseph creek region was trying to make way with some of his mules, and started out toward Joseph creek, accompanied by Erick Smutler. They soon came face to face with Vernon Baker with three of Swisher’s mules, one of which was packed. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Mrs. Leonard Baker passed away at the Grande Ronde hospital in La Grande Sunday, October 9, 1938. She had been ill only a week. The first trouble was reported as a blood clot in a vein and gangrene developed, necessitating the amputation of one leg. Other complications set in and quickly proved fatal. W.B. Bach Passes Away at La Grande W. B. Bach died at La Grande at 3:15 this morning. He failed to recover from a second operation for appendicitis. He went to La grande two weeks ago and submitted to an operation and it was realized at that time that he was in serious condition.
