Skillings, Ransom Jacob – Obituary

Wallowa, Wallowa County, Oregon Ransom Jacob Skillings was born in Fairbank, Iowa, on November 8, 1881, and died at his home in Wallowa on December 7, 1936, after a long and lingering illness. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Skillings. With his parents he came to Oregon in 1894 settling in Union where they spent one winter and the next.. Skillings, Marcella – Obituary

Marcella Lucinda Skillings, 80, died Dec. 2 at Wallowa Memorial Hospital. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Dec. 10 at Bollman Funeral Home, 315 W. Main St., Enterprise. Mrs. Skillings was born June 20, 1924, to John and Eva DeClue in St. Louis, Mo. She lived in Alaska and California before coming to La Grande. She married Raymond Benjamin Skillings on May 21, 1955. She earned a nursing degree in 1968 and worked at Hot Lake for a while before settling in Wallowa. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, quilting and being with her husband and family. Enterprise, Oregon Henry T. Skaggs was born in Indiana, Sept. 13, 1848, and died at his home in Enterprise on Dec. 25, 1920, aged 72 years, 3 months and 7 days. When a young man he moved to Missouri, and soon afterward to Madison, Kansas, where on Sept. 18, 1881, he was married to Miss Effie Martin. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Valda Louina Sizemore died Nov. 9, 1994, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Walla Walla, Wash. She was born Jan. 8, 1918, the daughter of James E. and Vera K. Mary Florence Singleton was born at Darsville, Mo., in 1880 and departed this life, September 7th, 1920, aged 60 years and 19 days. Louis N. Simpson Dies at Portland Enterprise, Oregon Word has been received at the death of Louis N. Simpson at Portland on January 5th. Wallowa County, Oregon Aldbert Simons dropped dead at his bachelor quarters in a camp near Grossman where he was cutting logs for the Palmer Lumber Company, Tuesday evening. The cause of his death as determined by an autopsy was apoplexy. He was about fifty-five years old and was a cousin of Mrs. Charles Carves. He had no immediate relatives here. His folks live near Drexel, Mo., and Coroner C.L. Booth prepared the body for shipment and it was shipped to that place Wednesday for internment. Joseph, Wallowa County, Oregon James Daniel Simmons, the small son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Simmons, passed away Monday, October 9, 1922, at Enterprise. The cause of his death was a broken appendix. He was three years, two months and twenty days old. Internment was in the Prairie Creek cemetery near Joseph, Tuesday, at 2:30 p.m., Rev. C.O. Heath offering a short burial service at the grave. Enterprise, Wallowa County, Oregon Charles Andrew Simmons, 90, a life-long resident of Wallowa County, died on Thursday, Feb. 21, 1980, at Wallowa County Nursing Home, where he was a resident since 1975.
