1851 Shannonville Canada Directory

A Village situated on the Salmon River about 11/2 mile from the Bay of Quinte, in the Township of Tyendenaga, and County of Hastings. C. W. distant from Kingston. 41 miles-usual stage fare, 10s.. in summer, 6s. 3d. distant from Belleville. 9 miles usual stage fare, 2s. 6d. a steamer from Kingston calls once each week, during the season of navigation, and conveys goods and passengers to or from that city. Population about 300.
