Wilkinson, Virginia – Obituary

Mary Virginia Wilkinson, age 52 years, wife of Andrew Wilkinson, died at her home in North Union at 11 p.m. Thursday, March 27, after a short illness.

Mrs. Wilkinson was the mother of Mrs. Jas. Webb, of Union, Mrs. Clara Lee of Baker, and E. E. Wilkinson of Nicola, B.C., and has been a resident of this section for many years.

The funeral will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. from the residence.

The funeral of Mary Virginia Wilkinson, took place Sunday last at 1:30 p. m., as announced in the Republican, and was largely attended.

Mary Virginia Lamere was born March 5, 1864, in Sacramento, California. Left motherless in her early childhood, she and her only brother, D. P. Lamere, were placed in the convent at Vancouver, Washington, where they remained eight years. The little family then came to Union county, Oregon, in the fall of 1872, settling in High Valley.

She was married to Andrew Wilkinson October 21, 1876. To this union three children were born-Nora, Edward and Clara, all of whom, with the husband and brother, survive her.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilkinson lived continuously in High Valley until 1908, when they rented the old home place, moved to Union and built a comfortable home.

Mrs. Wilkinson was an intense sufferer during her illness, but she bore her suffering with patience, thinking always of others first. Her sweet, gentle nature, and her kind consideration of others at all times won the love and esteem of all who knew her.

In the passing of Mrs. Wilkinson, her family is bereft of a devoted wife and mother, and the community of an estimable neighbor.
