Rodger Eugene Watson, 59, passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at his home in Haines, where he has resided since 1993.
Funeral services for Mr. Watson were held Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. at Coles Funeral Home. Pastor Loyd Phillips officiated.
Vault interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery.
His visitation was Wednesday, Jan. 12, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rodger was born Feb. 14, 1945, in Santa Paula, Calif. He was a son of Frank and Alpha (Watters) Watson. He received his education in California. He had a wide variety of interest where his work was concerned. He had great talent in rebuilding, restoring and designing brass and copper antiques and pieces of furniture. Rodger’s first job was at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort in California running the ski lift and he dearly enjoyed it. That led to the beginning of his greatest love, the outdoors. Rodger’s hobbies included fishing, elk and deer hunting.
He enjoyed gold mining and scuba diving with his dad. He also found a creative outlet with wood-working in his shop along with his dog Shadow. There were so many joys in Rodger’s life. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his family and friends. One of his greatest joys was his granddaughter, Sky-baby. He loved every moment with her. Rodger was the most wonderful and caring brother, uncle, daddy and papa darlin’. He loved his friends and family and was loved so much by everyone who encountered him. Although he has gone to Heaven to be with the Lord whot he trusted in and loved, he will be forever in our hearts.
Rodger is survived by his daughters, Tracy Fass of Boise, Idaho, and Michelle Rosin and her husband Kris of Baker City; granddaughter, Alexis “Sky-baby,” Rosin, Baker City; his sisters, Julia Bingham, Laura Watson, Cindy Shukle, Vicki Worsham, all of Baker City; nieces and nephews, William Watson, Kimberley Bingham, John Beatty, Colleen Klassen, Rick Watson, Rhonda Yanez, Justin Watson, Todd Beatty, Chris Beatty, Holly Banister and Ashliegh King, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by former spouse Sandy Watson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Alpha Watson; his two brothers, William “Skip” and Jerry Watson and his nephew, Joshua Hardesty.
