1. MERRILL COBURN came from Dracut, Mass., date uncertain, and settled in that part of Grantham afterwards annexed to Cornish. He was b. May 17, 1753; m. -, Abigail . b. July 12, 1751, and d. Jan. 4, 1848. It is said he was a soldier of the Revolution, probably from Mass. He d. in Cornish Nov. 8, 1842. Children:

vi. ABIGAIL, b. March 2, 1788; m. March 20, 1809, Daniel Campbell. She d. Dec. 16, 1820.
vii. EUNICE, b. April 23. 1790; m. Oct. 4, 1814, Ira Stowell of Grantham.
viii. MERRILL, JR.. b. Feb. 29, 1792; m. . Lived and d. in Watertown, N. Y. It is said that he amassed a large fortune. Left three children.
ix. ELDAD, b. Nov. 13, 1797; m. June 1, 1825, Diantha Aldrich of Chittenden, Vt., b. in 1795, and d. Aug. 21, 1874. They had one son, Solon, b. in 1826, and d. Aug. 7, 1831. Mr. Coburn owned and operated a carding machine, a fulling and cloth dressing machine. These were situated up the brook east of the Flat. He d. April 15, 1876.
