Guymon, Bernice Stawski Mrs. – Obituary

Bernice Guymon, 98, passed away in Portland, Ore., on Oct 29, 2006.

The funeral Mass was said on Nov. 6, 2006, at St. John Fisher Catholic Church. Father Forbes officiated.

Bernice was born Oct. 22, 1908, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Joseph and Mary Stawski. She married Milt Guymon in 1937.

Two years later they moved to Baker where she worked at the Polka Dot Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop. After the war they returned to Baker where she helped run her husband and his brothers business, Taxi 121.

They later moved to Corvallis so Milt could attend college. While there she worked at Prices.

She received an honorary degree from the college in PHT. (Pushed Husband Through) and a Major in Budget Balancing. After graduating they moved to Portland in 1953 where she worked several years at Pages Pharmacy.

When she was home, Bernie loved to work in her yard and she enjoyed cooking her favorite meals for friends and family. She was a 40 year member of St. John’s Catholic Church where she volunteered many hours.

Bernie was preceded in death by her husband, Milt; three brothers; four sisters.

Survivors include nephew, Pat and Nadine Guymon of Baker City, niece, Diane and Len Laviolette of San Diego; great-nephew and care giver, Tim Guymon, Gary Guymon, Harly, Dave and Jim all of Minneapolis; great niece, Teri Swanson.
