Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Christian Church, Richland, for Jesse Clarence Masterson, 78, a retired stockman who died at his home in Baker Sunday evening.
Pastors Roy Biggs, Richland and Joe Jewett, Richland, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Eagle Valley Cemetery in Richland.
Mr. Masterson was born at Lostine, Oregon, September 15, 1884, the son of Robert A. and Maria Reese Masterson. He attended schools in Lostine and Richland, ans was married to Angie Ownbey in 1907 at Joseph, Oregon. He lived at Wallowa, Oregon, for a short time after his marriage, then moved to Eagle Valley where he stayed for about three years, and to Enterprise where he worked during most of the rest of his life as a stockman. Mr. Masterson had been a resident of Baker during the past five years. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Harold Masterson, Portland and Robert and Leslie Masterson, Enterprise; three daughters, Mrs. Ileen Brooks, Tillamook, Mrs. Edna Heffling, Portland and Mrs. Betty Lovell, La Grande; three sisters, Edna Rich, Lillie Gillett, and Sadie Gordon, Baker; one brother, Earl Masterson, Portland, 24 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Beatty Chapel in Baker.
