This community was saddened on Christmas day when the news reached here of the passing of Mrs. Mary C. Lee [December 25, 1926], at the home of her son in Tacoma. She had made her home for the past few years with her son Daniel. Mrs. Lee was born in Ireland and spent her early life in Melbourne, Australia, being married in New Zealand. Fix, Stella Yates – Obituary

Mrs. Stella Fix, 64, of Rt. 6, Box 262, Dash Point, died Wednesday [July 17, 1946] in a local hospital. She had lived at Dash Point 40 years and was a native of Oregon. Thomas E. O’Farrell, 77, of 4506 No. 27th St., died Sunday [November 16, 1952] in a local hospital. Born in Orting, he had lived in Pierce County all his life. A retired machinist for the Northern Pacific Railway, he was a member of the Catholic Church, the Washington State Pioneer Society and the 50-Year Club of Tacoma. He was formerly chief park ranger of Rainier National Park. O’Farrell, James R. – Obituary

James R. O’Farrell, 80, a native of Orting and a former Pierce County commissioner, died Friday night [September 25, 1953] at his home in Orting. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert O’Farrell, were pioneers in area, taking up a 120-acre homestead in the Puyallup Valley in 1870. Mr. O’Farrell was the last of four sons of the pioneers. He married Lena Bruce of Tacoma in 1898 and they set up housekeeping in Orting. For many years he was active in community and political affairs. Hardesty, Noah – Obituary

Noah M. Hardesty, 84, of 2509 ½ S. 13th St., died Wednesday [March 28, 1968] in a local hospital. He was born in Spokane and had lived in Tacoma seven years. He was a retired plumber. George Will Grimm, 83, a resident of Puyallup since 1922, died Monday [March 2, 1981]. He was born in Ellensburg. He was a cabinetmaker and a member of the Tacoma Eagles Lodge. He also was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Mabel of Puyallup; two sons, George Jr. of Fife and John of Hermiston, Ore.; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Hendry of Roslyn and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Jordan of Tacoma; a brother, Archie of Ephrata; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Fix, Russell Oro – Obituary

Russell Oro Fix, 87, died Oct. 28, 1993. He was born Oct 3, 1906 in Anaheim, CA, however, he has lived in Kapowsin, WA, since he was three months old. His parents, Samuel Edgar Fix and Clara Jane Harris were early Washington pioneers. His father came to Orting, Washington Territory, in 1889 and his mother in 1874. Russ was graduated from Kapowsin High School in 1925 and attended the University of Washington where he majored in forestry and rowed on the UW crew team. George Fix, 71, native of Minnesota, died Monday [May 28, 1945] at his home at Orting. He is survived by his wife, Ollie, at the home; son, Earl G. Fix, Tacoma; sister, Mrs. Grace Baker, Tacoma, and a brother, Ed Fix of Kapowsin. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Orting Funeral Home, the Rev. W. O. Benadow officiating. Fix, Cora Johnson – Obituary

Mrs. Cora Fix, 72, of Orting, passed on at her home Aug. 2 [1946] after an illness of several months. She had resided in Orting since 1889, moving there from her birthplace in Cawker City, Kas. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Gladys L. Berry of Orting, and two granddaughters, Mrs. Orpha Stone of Tacoma and Mrs. Shirley Rudnick of Orting. Also surviving are six great grandchildren. Jay D. Champ, 79, of Spanaway, died Saturday [December 10, 1983]. Mr. Champ, a retired lumber worker, was born in Winlock, Lewis County, and came to Spanaway 20 years ago. Mrs. Walter Zelten, 77, of 1001 E. 32nd St., died Wednesday [February 4, 1981]. Mrs. Zelten was born in Ellensburg and moved to Tacoma in 1942. Survivors include a son, Walter, Jr. of Tacoma; a daughter, Mrs. Irene Aylett of Tacoma; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Henry of Tigard, Ore., and Mrs. Louise Durland of Portland; four grandchildren and a great grandchild. Zelten, Walter Jr. – Obituary

Walt was born in Akron, OH on Feb. 5, 1930 to Bessie and Walt Zelten Sr. and passed away on May 26, 1997. Along with his family at age 12, he moved to the Tacoma area in the summer of 1942. He completed his elementary education in Akron, and attended Gault Jr. High and Lincoln High School here in Tacoma. After school, he was stationed in Korea with the Army during that war.
