Charles C. Loney, who had lived in this community since he came here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Loney, 1882, died Saturday morning [February 6] at his home, 516 Catherine Street, following a long illness. He was a native of Toronto, Canada, born 1873, but had spent most of life in Walla Walla and nearby. Mrs. Alice May Loney, 68, prominent member of the Pioneer Methodist Church, died in a local hospital Sunday [March 26]. The funeral has been set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in a local chapel. She was born in Boothbay, Maine, July 27, 1875 and came to Walla Walla with her parents, Captain and Mrs. John E. Reed in 1884. They settled on the estate of Elisha Sherman one mile west of here. Aletha C. Loney, aged four months, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Loney, who lives at Dry Creek died yesterday morning [July 31, 1902] at 8 o’clock at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. John Baxter, 329 Craig Street. Death resulted from stomach trouble. The little child was brought to this city Sunday for medical treatment. The funeral will occur this afternoon at 3:30 o’clock from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Baxter, Rev. Mr. Armsfield, of Dixie, officiating. Elgin, Union County, Oregon Retired Lumberman, Passes Leonard Jay Barlow of Elgin, age 61, and a retired lumberman died at a local hospital Aug. 28. Funeral services where held Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Christian Church in Elgin with Rev. Ed Liggett officiating. Interment was at the Island City Cemetery. George Arnold, born April 26, 1853, in New York, passed away June 23 at his home in Pasco, Washington. Funeral services were held June 25 at the chapel at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. U. F. Hawk. Deceased made Pasco his home for about six years. He is survived by his wife, a niece, Mrs. John Perry, and two nephews, John and Francis Arnold, all of Pasco. Ashmead, a recent resident of Union and vicinity, passed away at the Walla Walla Sanitorium, College Place, Washington, Thursday evening December second.
