1914 Lower Chinook and Clatsop Annuity Roll

As a result of persistent advocacy by the Lower Chinook and Clatsop whose 1851 treaty had not been ratified, the Congress provided in the Fiscal Year 1913 appropriation act “that there be paid to the Lower Band of Chinook Indians of Washington the sum of twenty thousand dollars, to be apportioned among those now living and the lineal descendants of those who may be dead, by the Secretary of the Interior, as their respective rights may appear.” 1

Annuity Roll, containing the names of surviving members and immediate lineal descendants of deceased members of the Lower Band of Chinook Indians of Washington, entitled to participate in the settlement provided by the Act of August 24, 1912 (37 Stat. L., 518, 535).
