Clair “Pete” Thompson, 74, a former longtime Granite resident, died Nov. 11, 2006, at Del Rio Texas, of natural causes. His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at the McEwen Church in Sumpter Valley. Pete was born at Park Rapids, Minn., on Sept. 28, 1932, to Abe and Edith Thompson. He was the sixth of eight children. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953, serving two years in the Korean War before being discharged as a sergeant.
