Shaver, Alberta May Copeland Mrs. – Obituary

Baker City, Oregon

Alberta May Shaver, 66, of Baker City died Nov. 8, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Health Services.

At her request, there will be no service.

May was born on July 25, 1940, at Medford to Hugh Delmar and Alberta May Cooper Copeland.
She worked for many years as a bartender and waitress at the American Legion and the Veterans Memorial Club. She joked that she had worked at just about every tavern in town.

While working at Scotty’s Tavern, May met her future husband, Douglas Shaver. The couple were married in February of 1970.

May enjoyed the outdoors very much, whether fishing or just driving in the hills; she definitely was not a homebody. She also was an avid collector of wolf knickknacks.

May just enjoyed life. She loved sitting down and talking with friends and family; she could talk all day. May loved her family very much. They always knew to bring the newest pictures of the grandchildren or they were in trouble.

Included in her love for family were her other children – her dogs. May dearly loved Peaches, Pepper and Peppy.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Douglas Shaver of Baker City; children, Janet Taylor of Baker City, Toby Shaver and his wife, Chris, of Boise, and Twick Shaver and his wife, Trish, of Grandview, Idaho; grandchildren, Kira Boecher, Karyssa Idzinga, Kyla Idzinga, Darcia Shaver, Diana Shaver, Crysten Shaver, Kyle Shaver, Travis Shaver, Alysa Morrison, Tanner Shaver and Amelia Close; great-grandchildren, Jaden Shaver, Treaghen Shaver, Mackenzie Morrison and Damien Morrison; brothers, Richard Copeland of Baker City, Delmar Copeland of Phoenix, Ariz., and Laroy Copeland of Medford.
She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Close; and brother, Charles Copeland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or American Cancer Society through Gray’s West & Co., 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, OR 97814.
