Phineas Lawrence Windsor, librarian of the University of Illinois, is one of the ablest men of his profession in the state. He is a native of Illinois, and had a wide experience in library work both in the East and West before he entered upon his present duties. He was assistant in the New York State Library in 1899, and from 1900 to 1903 was in the copyright office in the Library of Congress. Bethlehem Methodist Episcopal Church on Taylors Island, Maryland

The Bethlehem Methodist Church Records document the membership and activities of the Dorchester County church. Bethlehem Methodist Church was erected in 1858 in Taylors Island, MD, and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The church is still active today. A Taylor’s Island’s Methodist congregation is believed to have been established as early as 1781. Included are baptisms and marriages from 1885 to 1977.

Sampson Windsor, of Prince William Co., Va., had four sons William, Christopher, Burton, and Alfred. Burton married Elizabeth Tinsley, and settled in Missouri in 1833. Alfred married Sarah Clark, and settled in Montgomery County in 1833. He had a son, John R., who married Mary A. Frzhugh, of Tennessee, and died leaving a widow and nine children, five sons and four daughters. William T., another son of Alfred Windsor, married Jane B. Bryan, a daughter of Reece Bryan and Jane Evans, by whom he had seven sons and four daughters.

Mrs. Windsor, 90, Pendleton, died Wednesday, May 16, 1984, at Delamarter Care Center, Pendleton. She was born July 9, 1893 at Pendleton, the daughter of O. P. and Eva Stickler Bowman. Her grandparents came to the area with a wagon train and her parents were pioneers in the area. Her father, O. P. Bowman, built the Bowman Hotel.
