Rough Riders

Compiled military service records for 1,235 Rough Riders, including Teddy Roosevelt have been digitized. The records include individual jackets which give the name, organization, and rank of each soldier. They contain cards on which information from original records relating to the military service of the individual has been copied. Included in the main jacket are carded medical records, other documents which give personal information, and the description of the record from which the information was obtained.

Mustered out at Camp Jackson, S. C., April 14, 1919.

Returned to the USA April 2, 1919. Served on the Mexican border October, 1916, to March, 1917. Mustered out at Camp Jackson April 8, 1919.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Virgil T. Golden Mortuary, Salem, for T. Harold “Tommy” Tomlinson, 79, of Salem, who died Thursday [June 25, 1987]. He was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, and had lived in Salem since 1919. He graduated from the Willamette University Law School in 1930 and was a deputy district attorney in Marion County for a short time. He was a partner with William J.
