Stitt, Donald Virgil – Obituary

Donald Virgil Stitt, 92, of Woodburn, formerly of La Grande, passed away on June 18 at Cascade Park Retirement Home. Born on June 9, 1915, he excelled in athletics at La Grande High School before attending Oregon State University. He served in the Army during World War II and played professional basketball. Notably, he later achieved success in tennis, bowling, and track and field. Stitt is remembered fondly by his surviving brother, Alvin, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held June 27.

Stitt, Alvin Wayne – Obituary

Alvin Wayne Stitt, aged 90, passed away on October 1 in Portland, having previously lived in La Grande. Born on July 1, 1917, he moved to Portland in 1937 and served in the US Army during World War II. He married Hilda Stitt on June 14, 1950, and worked as a baker at Safeway. A funeral service is scheduled at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Portland. Hilda Stitt survives him, and Family Memorial is handling arrangements.
