Sargent

Frank H. Sargent, M.D., born October 31, 1861, in Pittsfield, is a well-regarded local physician and member of a distinguished family with deep roots in American history. His great-grandfather served under Washington during the Revolutionary War, while his father, Charles H. Sargent, was a prominent community member. Frank pursued his education at Maine Medical School and Dartmouth College, graduating in 1889. After gaining experience in New York, he returned to Pittsfield to practice medicine, earning a strong reputation and successfully managing the family farm. An independent thinker, he is active in local organizations and a Congregationalist in faith.

Ebenezer B. Sargent, born April 11, 1821, in London, N.H., was a notable Pittsfield farmer and Civil War veteran. His father, Benjamin, served as a scout in the Revolutionary War and was a Baptist minister. After learning the shoemaking trade, Ebenezer enlisted in the First New Hampshire Artillery, later serving at Camp Sumner. Returning to agriculture, he cultivated a thirty-acre farm and became active in the Republican party. In 1849, he married Abigail Philbrick, with whom he had nine children. Abigail passed away at sixty-five.
