An interesting section of the chapter are the references to the punishments inflicted upon the soldiers in the event of their disobedience.

La Grande, Oregon Doris Ross, 80, of La Grande died Nov. 18 at her home. A memorial service begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
