Irwin, Florence – Obituary

Mrs. Florence Irwin, life-long resident of Union County, died in a local hospital yesterday. Funeral services will be held in the Daniels Funeral Home on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rev. H. J. Gernhardt will officiate and interment will be in Island City Cemetery. Mrs. Irwin was born Jan. 26, 1888, in the Grande Ronde Valley, the daughter of Robert Thomas Childers and Mary Elizabeth Hyde Childers. She was the granddaughter of James Childers and Mary Jane McDowell Childers, who were among the first settlers in the valley. She married Sam Irwin Oct. 3, 1906. La Grande, Union County, Oregon William Jasper Irwin, 1907 Oak Street, La Grande, died Sunday morning in a La Grande hospital after a long illness. He was 70 years old. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 26 at the Daniels funeral home with Rev. Gene Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Summerville Cemetery. Irwin, a retired farmer, was born in Kansas on Feb. 27, 1880. He had lived in La Grande for the past nine years.
