This volume of nearly 400 pages includes a coat-of-arms in colors, two charts, and nearly fifty full page illustrations – portraits, old homes, samplers, etc. The coat-of-arms shown in the frontspiece is an unusually good example of the heraldic art!

Biography of A. E. Hepner

A. E. Hepner, born December 14, 1871, in Greene County, Iowa, is a notable agriculturist and current County Commissioner in Washington County, serving his second term. His successful 140-acre farm near Copan, supplemented by leasing additional land, focuses on diverse crops and livestock. Educated in southern Kansas, Hepner is committed to modern farming practices. He married Phoebe McIllwain in 1899, with three children. A Republican, he has actively participated in local governance and fraternal organizations, earning recognition for his community contributions.
