Nora E. Ferguson, 78, well-known pioneer resident of Kittitas Valley, died Tuesday [January 23, 1968] at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. Born Feb. 3, 1889, in Shelton, she came to the Valley as a small child with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Felix G. Wyatt. In 1912 (November 4) in Ellensburg, she was married to Ben F. Ferguson, who survives her. The couple farmed on the old Ferguson ranch on Ferguson Road, east of Ellensburg. This survey of Wintergreen Cemetery, Port Gibson, Mississippi, was completed in 1956 by Mr. Gordon M. Wells and published by Joyce Bridges the same year. It contains the cemetery readings Mr. Wells was able to obtain at that date. It is highly likely that not all of the gravestones had survived up to that point, and it is even more likely that a large portion of interred individuals never had a gravestone.

The father was born near Nashville, Tennessee, and when but a boy went with his parents to Henderson County, where be afterward married and made his permanent home. He is a democrat, and in 1861 volunteered in Company A, First Tennessee Confederate Infantry, but after serving one year, was discharged for disability. Fourth street here [March 24, 1951]. She died at 2:10 a.m. She was a daughter of a pioneer family, as well as being a pioneer herself. Entered the service at Kinston, N.C., May 25, 1918, and sent to Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, D. C., May 26, 1918. Sailed for France Sept. 1, 1918. Nursed at Pontanezen Barracks, Camp Hospital No. 33, Sept. 18th to Oct. 3, 1918, and was then transferred to Kerhuon Hospital, Oct. 3, 1918 to May 23, 1919. Returned to USA May 31, 1919, and was mustered out of the service at New York City, June 22, 1919.
