William Earl “Early” Epps, 70, passed away on November 10. A native of Americus, he had resided in Oconee County for 35 years, retiring from Wellington Corporation. A World War II veteran, he served on the U.S.S. Intrepid and was awarded the Purple Heart. Epps was a former Commander of VFW Post #2872 and a member of Amvets Post #10, as well as Princeton United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, three children, siblings, and nine grandchildren. Memorial services were held on November 11, 1990.
Mr. W. P. H. Epps passed away at his home after a brief illness, attributed to acute indigestion and paralysis. His funeral, attended by many, featured tributes highlighting his kindness and devotion to family. Born on February 8, 1854, in Oconee County, he married Emma T. Lester in 1875 and had nine children. A respected member of the community and the Masonic Lodge, he was buried in Fairview Cemetery, surrounded by heartfelt condolences from friends and neighbors.
Mrs. Owen Epps passed away at her home in Crawford, Georgia, on Tuesday, prompting sorrow in Madison, where she was well-known. An invalid for many years, she is survived by her husband and their 13-year-old daughter, Pearl. Her burial took place on Wednesday, attended by Pearl. Born a Miss Maxwell, she was a beloved figure in Oglethorpe County. Mrs. Epps was related to the Epps family from Morgan County.
Roy B. Epps, a prominent businessman in Athens, passed away at the age of 34. His funeral was held at First Baptist Church, led by Dr. J. C. Wilkinson and Dr. S. J. Cartledge, with interment at Oconee Cemetery. Epps was the owner of the Athens Battery Company and Mutual Services Station and was a member of the West End Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, two children, parents, four sisters, and four brothers.
