History of Francestown, New Hampshire is a historic and genealogical record of the town from its first settlement in 1758 through the beginning of 1891. It records Francestown’s settlement, civic growth, religious and educational institutions, military participation, industries, and social customs, followed by an extensive genealogical register of families associated with the town.
This small manuscript features biographical sketches of pioneer women of Lake County, Indiana who lived within the county in 1834-1850. These 45 sketches were written by their direct descendants and compiled by historians Avis Bryant Brown of Crown Point, Indiana, and Ethel Alice Vinnedge of Creston, Indiana. John Driscoll, originally from Rochester, N.Y., moved to Pennsylvania at fourteen. He enlisted in the Sixty-fourth New York Infantry in 1864 and served until the war’s end. In 1866, he joined the regular army for three years. By 1869, Driscoll settled in Burt County, starting a farming venture before opening a meat market in Tekamah in 1875. Recently, he sold a profitable farm north of town, marking a successful chapter in his agricultural endeavors.
