Mt. Pleasant Cemetery is located in Section 22, Wilmington Township, DeKalb County, Indiana, at the corner of County Roads 40 and 59. This cemetery is also known by the name of Ginder Cemetery and Sawdust Cemetery. This enumeration was made by Mrs. Douglas Vose and Mrs. V. O. Mathis in 1982.

The names were copied as they were spelled on the bonds, often barely legible and often spelled differently on the same bond. Sometimes the marriages were performed before the licenses were issued. Genealogy of Garriot K. Broyles

The Broyles family, originating from northwestern Germany, traces its lineage back to the 14th century. John Broyles settled in Culpepper, Virginia, in 1717, marking the family’s arrival in America. Garriot K. Broyles, born circa 1810 in Virginia, married Eunice V. Wayman and later Martha A. Batton. The family moved to Shelby County, Illinois, around 1858. Garriot, a cabinetmaker, had several children, contributing significantly to the Broyles legacy. He died in Indiana between February and June 1895, while his widow passed after 1896.

Biography of Richard W. Deal

Richard W. Deal, born in Ohio in 1838, began his adventurous life on the Pacific coast after turning twenty-two. He moved to San Francisco in 1862 and worked in the Granite Creek mines in Oregon before becoming a prominent freighter on the Umatilla road. By 1867, he owned 380 oxen, transporting essential goods amid the dangers posed by Native American attacks. In 1868, he defended his freight train from marauding Indians. Deal married Lizzie Williamson in 1868 and has four children, continuing to engage in horse trading in the Midwest.
