Yeske, Fred – Obituary

Fred Yeske, 72, 1904 Cedar St., died Wednesday at Grande Ronde Hospital.

Yeske was born September 13, 1901 in Portland. He moved to La Grande in 1922 to work for the Union Pacific Railroad Co. He married Faye Golden on July 16, 1924. In 1925 he worked for a short time for he Bowman Hicks Lumber Co., in Maxville and then returned to La Grande to work a the M. J. Goss Motor Co., for four years. He then returned to the Union Pacific Railroad Co., where he worked until his retirement eight years ago.

Yeske was a member of the Lutheran Church, Grande Ronde Valley Coin Club, B. A. R. E., I. B. E. W., U. P. Old-timers Club and the La Grande Eagles Aerie No. 259.

He is survived by his widow, Faye; a daughter June Crouser, Pendleton;; two sons, Richard, La Grande and Golden, Roseburg; a niece, Mary Newquist, Vancouver, Wash., and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Daniel Valley Funeral Chapel. Rev. Jack Hart will officiate. Burial services will follow at the Island City Cemetery.

Those who wish may make contribution in memory of Mr. Yeske to the Oregon Kidney Foundation in care of Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel.
