Baker City, Oregon
Dedith Shorts, 83, a longtime Baker City resident, died Feb. 15, 2001, at Settlers Park.
His memorial service will be later at Colville, Wash.
Mr. Shorts was born on Aug. 12, 1918, at Beloit, Wis., to Edward and Roserie Shorts. He worked for the railroad most of his life.
He also did some logging with his sons. He loved to fish and hunt. He was a World War II veteran. He will be buried at Colville, Wash.
Survivors include daughters, Vickie Laurent of Baker City and Rozie Finch of Elk, Wash.; sons, Red Shorts of Pendleton, Tim Shorts of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, and Dan Shorts of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Vera Frank of Omro, Wis.; his wife, Florence of Baker City; and 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; a son, David Shorts; and brothers, Frank of Cascade Locks and Ed of Baker City.
