Beatrice Long Here Entire Life
Mrs. Amy Beatrice Long, age 85 of Baker, passed away Wednesday noon Oct. 29, at St. Elizabeth Hosp. after a short illness.
Services for Mrs. Long were conducted Monday, Nov. 3, at 2 pm at the Langrell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Robert McNeil of the First Methodist Church officiating. Burial was at the family plot in the Haines Cemetery.
Mrs. Long was born at Rock Creek Dec. 20, 1883 the daughter of the late William and Mary Owen pioneers of Baker County. She was married to William Long of Muddy Creek, son of Baker County pioneers Alonzo and Julia Long. Mr. and Mrs. Long celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the home of their oldest son Garnet Long on Dec. 25, 1951.
She is survived by five daughters and five sons: Pearl Thrasher of Baker, Opal Blank of Butte, Montana, Ruth Brown of Baker, Doris Colton of Baker, Daisy Elliott of Haines, Garnet Long of Baker, Lewis Long of Baker, Harry Long of Baker, Frank Long of Hoquium, WA., and Glen Long of Pendleton.
She was preceded in death by a son Ernest Long January 4, 1968 and a brother Lincoln Owen May 9, 1966.
Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Ada Zigler of Portland and a niece and nephew Ethel and Clinton Perkins of Portland, OR.
Mrs Long was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and a member of the GAR.
