Loennig, Marjorie Marie Haldorson Mrs. – Obituary

Marjorie Marie Loennig, 81, of Creswell, a former Baker County resident, died June 27, 2007.

Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Creswell Presbyterian Church.

Marjorie was born on the family farm at Eugene on April 6, 1926, to Julia and Lennie Haldorson. She was the second of five children.

She attended Central Grade School and was a 1944 Eugene High School graduate. She married Franklin Loennig in 1949 and moved to a ranch near Haines.

After her divorce, she completed her degree in education at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande while raising three boys. She began her teacher career in Baker City. She retired from the Creswell School District in 1989 after teaching first grade there for 15 years.

She was an active member of the Haines Baptist Church while living in Baker Valley. After moving back to the Willamette Valley, she found a new church home and joined the Nazarene Church at Creswell.

In the years after her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and traveling out of the country as well as back to the family ranch to visit with friends and family.

Survivors include her three sons, Darrell Loennig of Portland, Rodney Loennig of Creswell and Gerald Loennig of North Powder; two brothers, Leland Haldorson of Tigard and Leonard Haldorson of Condon; a sister, Lenore Brown of Eugene; and nine grandchildren, Tim and Ben Loennig of Portland, Faith Loennig of Orlando, Fla., Lisa Loennig of Corvallis, Cassie Loennig of Arvada, Colo., and Logan, Lindsay, Lane and Lauren Loennig of North Powder.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Merlin Haldorson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Creswell Education Association Scholarship Fund, the Creswell Volunteer Fire Department Special Equipment Fund or the charity of one’s choice.
