Klock-Feeley, Kayla Shae – Obituary

Kayla Shae Klock-Feeley, 12, of Canyon Lake, Texas, a former Baker City resident, died Nov. 14, 2002, at Canyon Lake as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

Her memorial service was Nov. 19, 2002, at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home at Canyon Lake. Burial was at Fair Oaks, Calif.

Kayla was born on Aug. 31, 1990, at Sacramento, Calif. She and her mother, Donna Barber, lived in Baker City in 2000.

She died when the 2000 Nissan Quest she was riding in collided with a school bus. The crash caused a chain reaction involving two other vehicles, according to a report in the San Antonio (Texas) Express News.

The Nissan was driven by her stepmother, Kay Klock. Her daughter, Sidney Klock, 11, also was a passenger in the vehicle.

They were on their way to school when the accident happened about 7:20 a.m. Kay Klock is a teacher and physical education coach at Mountain Valley Intermediate School where Kayla attended classes. About 30 school bus children were treated at the scene for scrapes and bruises, the newspaper reported.

Kayla is survived by her mother, Donna Barber of Sacramento; her father, Lonnie Klock of Canyon Lake, Texas; brothers, Valien Klock of Canyon Lake and Nick Barber, Corey Barber, Jayden Barber and Seth Barber, all of Sacramento; grandparents, Valerie Feeley of Baker City; great-grandparents, Bob and Freda Waldron of Baker City; cousins, Katirah Huff and Lexy VanCleave of Baker City; aunt and uncle, Lisa and Colin Huff of Baker City; uncles, Robert Feeley and his wife, Rita, of California, and Clint and Scott Feeley, both of Baker City.

A memorial fund has been established at Wells Fargo bank at Canyon Lake, Texas, to help defray funeral costs.
