Edith Rose Ireland, 92, of Mitchell died Dec. 20 at her home. Memorial services will be July 21 in Hood River.
Mrs. Ireland was born in Hood River July 21, 1914, to James Ray and Emma May (Barton) Hathhorn. She grew up and was educated there.
She married Willis “Mike” Ireland in Hood River June 19, 1931. She and her family lived throughout the Northwest, wherever there was a dam to be built.
They moved to Elgin in 1999, then to Mitchell in November.
Mrs. Ireland enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, making and stuffing animal toys and dolls, and various other crafts. She also enjoyed trips to Reno.
She was a past member of IOOF, senior center, TOPS and the Rebeccah lodge, all in Oroville, Calif.
Survivors include her son, Willis “Bill” and his wife, Karen Ireland of Colorado Springs, Colo.; her daughters and their spouses, Phyllis and Marvin Halstead of Mitchell, Patricia and Glenn Horn of Elgin, and Charleene and Edward Harmon of Prineville; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Dying earlier were her husband, in 1997, five brothers and one sister.
