“Callie” Fisher, Haines, Succumbs
With the death Sept. 3 at a Baker hospital of Clavin “Callie” Fisher 61, the Haines community loses a well known and popular citizen.
The deceased was born March 4, 1887, on a farm near Haines, the son of John and Belle Gardner Fisher, pioneers of that community and he lived in the Muddy Creek district all his life except for a short period when he operated a farm in Pine Valley of this county.
Survivors are his widow, Lena, three sons Jim of Portland, John and Charles of Portland, a daughter, Elizabeth of Boston; a sister, Irene Polwarth of Hillsboro and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers at his funeral were Raymond Ward, Douglas Potter, John and Wallace Maxwell, Ed Coles, and Lonnie Young.
The funeral took place at the West chapel in Baker, September 5 with Rev. Lloyd Malmstrom of Haines officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
