Childers, Norma Lee Mrs. – Obituary

Norma Lee Childers, 75, died peacefully in her home with her children present on March 5, 2007.

There was a celebration of Norma’s life at the Baker City Elks Lodge on Friday, March 5, 2007, 12:30 p.m.

Norma was born in La Grande, Ore., April 4, 1931. She was raised in Union County and graduated from Union High School in 1949. She then attended Eastern Oregon College in La Grande. After college Norma moved to The Dalles, Ore., where she worked until she married William “Bill” Childers and moved to Baker. Norma worked at the Baker County Credit Bureau, Baker Senior High School and for Dr. Randy Alenko.

In 1998 Norma moved to Albany, Ore., to be closer to her children. She worked at the Corvallis Family Medicine practice until her retirement in 1994. Norma, remained active in the community in a volunteer capacity until her health prohibited further involvement.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Vicki L Fite, of Philomath, Ore.; son, John Childers of Gresham, Ore.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by one grandson.
