Blando, Velma Elaine Valentine Mrs. – Obituary

Velma Elaine Blando, 79, of Baker City, died Sept. 22, 2007, at her home.

Her graveside memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Velma was born July 23, 1928, at Baker City. She was the daughter of Leonard and Lola Morin Valentine. In 1968 she married Leo Blando, who worked for U.S. Bank of Baker City. She subsequently moved to Redmond and Portland, returning with her husband to Baker City in 1998.

Velma was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, working in her garden and creating beautiful handcrafted gifts for her loved ones.
“She will be missed,” her family said.

Survivors include her son, John Fisher of Sherwood; her daughter, Elaine Thomas, of Oroville Calif.; grandchildren, Michelle Hargrove, Sandra Heywood, Meagan English and Paul and Joe Fisher; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Darel Valentine, and his wife, Lorraine, and Leroy Valentine and his wife, Pat.
Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
