Myrtle Aleson

Myrtle Aleson, a native of Wallow County, died Jan. 27, 2006 at the Wallowa Valley Care Center. She was 96.

Mrs. Aleson was born on Sept. 16, 1909 in the Leap area of Wallowa County. She was the youngest of 10 children born to James H. and Harriet Bloom Fisher. She moved to Hurricane Creek with her parents when she was 10 years old.

She married Julius Aleson on Dec. 30, 1926 at Enterprise. The couple farmed on Hurricane Creek for many years. She had joined the Hurricane Creek Grange when she was 14 and was an 82-year member of the grange. She was also a charter member of AARP, a member of the women’s Auxiliary VFW #4307 and a lady Elk.

Mrs. Aleson will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and aunt. She loved spending time with her grandchildren while they were growing up. She also loved to hike, camp, pick huckleberries, and dance. In later years she enjoyed playing pinochle with her friends.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Bonnie Jean and Dean Sasser of Portland, grandson Gary and his wife Trudy, of Hood River, son Grant and his wife Karen of Gresham, one great grandson, one step granddaughter, two great step granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964.

A celebration of life will be held Feb. 4th at 11 a.m. at Bollman Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Enterprise Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Myrtle Aleson, 96, of Enterprise died Jan. 27 at a care center. A celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday Feb. 4 at Bollman Funeral Home with Tim Schmeck officiating. Burial will be at the Enterprise Cemetery.

Mrs. Aleson was born Sept. 16, 1909, to James H. and Harriet Bloom Fisher at Leap in Wallowa County. On Dec. 30, 1926, she married Julius Aleson in Enterprise. They farmed on Hurricane Creek for many years. She was a member of the Hurricane Creek Grange for 82 years, a charter member of AARP, a member of the VFW women’s auxiliary 4307 and a lady Elk.
She enjoyed hiking, camping, picking huckleberries, dancing, playing pinochle and being with her family.

Survivors include children and their spouses, Bonnie Jean and Dean Sasser of Portland, and Grant and Karen Aleson of Gresham; one grandchild; one step-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Memorials may be made to any charity in care of Bollman Funeral Home, 315 W. Main St., Enterprise.
