Walter Adair Mayes is the nephew of Chiefs Dennis Wolf Bushyhead, Joel Bryan and Samuel Houston Mayes and Miss Nannie Mayes is the grandniece of Chief John Ross and great granddaughter of Chief Charles Renatus Hicks.
