Chastain, Marie Veola Fahy – Obituary

Marie V. Chastain, 88, of Ontario, passed away on January 16, 1991. She was born on March 1, 1902, in Westfall, Ore., and spent most of her life in Malheur County. She married Liberty Chastain in 1922 and was involved in the Ontario Senior Citizens. Services will be held at the Ontario Lienkamper Chapel, with interment at Valley View Cemetery. Marie is survived by her daughter, sister, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, having been preceded in death by her husband and son.

Ward, Mary Jane Mullen Mrs. – Obituary

Mary Jane Ward, 85, of La Grande, formerly of Baker City, passed away on August 2, 2003. Born on February 26, 1918, in Westfall, she graduated from Ontario High School in 1936 and married Frank Eldon Ward in 1948. They owned Scotty’s Tavern in Baker City until 1979. A creative individual who enjoyed cooking and caring for her family, she is survived by her son Ben, stepfamily, and grandchildren. A private service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to GRH Hospice.
