Elgin, Oregon Rosetta Eckstein Rosetta Eckstein, 76, of Elgin, died Oct. 22 at the Evergreen Rehabilitation and Retirement Center in Milton-Freewater. A graveside service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Elgin Cemetery with Pastor Steve Gilmore officiating. Mrs. Eckstein was born July 20, 1930, in La Grande to Ernest and Lillian Knight. She moved with her family to Wallowa, where she grew up and attended school. After her schooling she moved to California for a time where she worked as a waitress and bartender. Wallowa Lake, Oregon Oliver Earl Boeve, 54, of Wallowa Lake died April 15, 2005, at home. He was born June 7, 1950, in Portland, the son of the late Kenneth Gerald Boeve and Mary Lou Atkinson Boeve. He grew up in Tigard and Sherwood, graduating from Sherwood High School in 1969. Boeve served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne in 1970-71. Wallowa, Oregon Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Southwick of Promise received word that their son, Arthur, who was a Corporal in Company A, 14th Infantry was seriously ill with pneumonia. They immediately left for Fort Dodge near Des Moines where he was stationed. Monday word came that he had died of pneumonia following an attack of Spanish Influenza.
