Sarah Miller was born in Spencer county, Indiana, Oct., 17, 1842. In 1856 she was united in marriage to J. W. Hammack who passed away Oct. 15, 1912. She united with the Christian church when about 19 years of age and remained a faithful member until her death. Lostine, Oregon Pioneer Gone to Rest William H. Wood was born August 26, 1822 in Cattaragus County, New York. When three years old he was taken by his parents to Michigan and in the course of a few years found his way from Michigan to Iowa. From there to Missouri, and from Missouri to California in 1846. 1929-2003 James Burn Allen, 74, formerly of Wallowa, died Sept. 25 in Western Oregon. A graveside gathering will be held Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Lostine Cemetery. Allen was born April 26, 1929, in Wallowa. He spent much of his younger years hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. The funeral of the late Mr. WC Twadell was held on Saturday afternoon, May 22, from the United church, Vermilion, when a large gathering attended to pay their respects to their departed friend and neighbor. She had been suffering from tumors for a year but her condition had not been considered really serious, and it was thought an operation would bring a cure.
